A Closer Look At Zoya Gems & Jewels

Pictured above are Rina, Twila, & Izzy on white paper so you can really see all of the glitters that went into each one.

I wanted to see how the glitter polishes looked over each of the shimmers. I used 2 coats of the glitter polishes.
First up we have my favorite, Holly. I think Twila actually looks better over Holly than it's blue counterpart Noel. Be warned, tons of pictures since I loved the glitters with Holly! (Pinky-Twila, Ring-Rina, Middle-Izzy, Pointer-Holly)

 

 

 

 

Next we have the glitters over Twila. (Pinky-Izzy, Ring-Twila, Middle-Rina, Pointer-Twila)

 

And finally we have the glitters over Izzy.  (Pinky-Rina, Ring-Izzy, Middle-Twila, Pointer-Izzy)

 

That's a lot of pictures! I know many people love Izzy best but Rina wins for me. It is so perfect for the holiday season! I think I;ll be using it for some sort of Christmas tree or wreath manicure soon.

Zoya Izzy & Kissy

Here's the last of the Zoya Gems & Jewels collection, 2 coats of Izzy with 2 coats of Kissy added to my ring finger.
Izzy is a bold metallic magenta shimmer with a great formula. Like Zoya Holly & Zoya Noel, it's almost a one coat wonder and dries super fast. Nothing unique but very pretty.
Izzy has superfine magenta glitter, small magenta bar glitter that flashes purple, & quite a bit of small holo bar glitter. Izzy looks a little different than Rina & Twila because it has lots more holo bar glitter. Great formula for a polish with so much glitter! I recommend running your finger along your free edge just to make sure that no bar glitter is hanging off. Just takes a second and made a big difference.

Zoya Noel & Twila

From the Gems & Jewels collection, here we have 2 coats of Zoya Noel with 2 coats of Twila added to my ring finger.
Noel is a very pretty icy blue metallic shimmer with a spectacular formula. Like Zoya Holly, it's almost a one coat wonder and dries super fast. Gorgeous color for the upcoming winter season!
Twila has super fine true blue glitter, small true blue bar glitter & a bit of small holo bar glitter. I don't think it has quite as much depth as Rina from the same collection & it doesn't match it's counterpart from the set as well as the others. Not a problem, just something to note. Twila's formula is great for such a glitter heavy polish. I recommend running your finger along your free edge just to make sure that no bar glitter is hanging off. Just takes a second and made a big difference.

Zoya Holly & Rina

I didn't think I would like any of the polishes from Zoya's Gems & Jewels collection, but I was wrong! This is 2 coats of Zoya Holly with 2 coats of Rina added to my ring finger.
Holly is not unique but the formula is spectacular! Almost a one coat wonder and dries super fast. It's a perfect metallic green shimmer for the holidays!
Rina is a mix of fine green shimmer, small green bar glitter that flashes blue and a bit of small holographic bar glitter. I have always thought that bar glitter was just gross and hairy looking. Rina, however, is really gorgeous. It looks like super sparkly vinyl or astroturf when layered over Holly. So cool! Rina's formula is very nice too. I recommend running your finger along your free edge just to make sure that no bar glitter is hanging off. Just takes a second and made a big difference.

Milani Hi-Tech & Stripes

I  won my first Milani polishes from Maria of Nails Made Simple. Be sure and check out her great blog if you haven't already done so.
This is 2 coats of Milani Hi-Tech. I love holo polishes and this is no exception. Nice formula and all around gorgeous polish.

The next day, I decided to add some simple stripes in China Glaze Cherish. Sometimes the simplest ideas turn out the best. I really love this manicure! Freehand stripes were very easy with Cherish since it's so pigmented.

Earlier this week I reviewed two polishes from Etsy seller byStringTheory. Now it's my pleasure to offer one lucky winner one polish of their choice from her NERDLACQUER polish line!

NERDLACQUER No Medal For Chewie

 

This is my second polish from a new franken seller on Etsy, byStringTheory. Her polish line is called NERDLACQUER and she makes trios of polishes inspired by her love of sci-fi. A little about her polishes in her own words.

All polishes come in a standard full-sized 15ml / .5oz bottle, not a mini. All are blended from existing colors plus lacquer base and loose glitters and micas, and combine anywhere from 6 to a dozen (or more!) different shades and components. The vast majority of component polishes are 3-free, but some are not. They ARE all cruelty-free, however. I don't use any lacquers from brands who test on animals.

Here we have 3 coats of NERDLACQUER No Medal For Chewie. This polish is from her A Glitter Far Far Away Trio, inspired by Star Wars. Please click on the pictures to see all of the glitter in more detail. Here is her perfect description of the color.

"No Medal for Chewie" is a deep jungle-canopy green with mossy shimmer, packed with emerald green, holo, and gold glitter, plus big hexagonal gold glitter.

Once again the application was great for a polish with this much glitter. No problems getting the big glitter on my nails. The base color is a truly beautiful dark green jelly. I would love to have it all by itself without the glitter too. Dry time was a bit slower then usual and it needs a couple of coats of top coat for a smooth finish. Overall another fantastic polish. This one will be great for Christmas!! 8 for one bottle or $21 for a trio. She'll let you pick your own polishes for a custom trio too!

NERDLACQUER All Of Time & Space

I have a couple of beautiful and unique polishes to show you this week from a new franken seller on Etsy, byStringTheory. Her polish line is called NERDLACQUER and she makes trios of polishes inspired by her love of sci-fi. A little about her polishes in her own words.

All polishes come in a standard full-sized 15ml / .5oz bottle, not a mini. This is 3 coats of the drop dead gorgeous NERDLACQUER All of Time & Space. It's from her first trio inspired by Dr. Who. I love it! Please click on the pictures to see all of the glitter in more detail. Here is her perfect description of the color.

"All of Time and Space" is a sheer crystalline minty turquoise with silver shimmer, small and medium fuchsia glitter, and big silver hexagonal glitter.

Application was shockingly good for a polish with this much glitter. I had absolutely no trouble getting the big hex glitter on my nails. I used 3 thin coats, but I probably could have gotten away with just 2.  Dry time was a little longer than normal. Definitely needs 2 coats of top coat to get a smooth look. Removal is what you would expect for a glitter polish like this one. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this polish! The base color is truly lovely and the mix of glitter is stunning. $8 for one bottle or $21 for a trio. She'll let you pick your own polishes for a custom trio too!

Forever 21 Love & Beauty No Name Polish

This is 3 coats of a cute polish I won from shimmerspark's giveaway. The formula on this was very nice & it's a pretty color but I didn't really like the way it looked on my hands. It lasts really well though! I used this as the base for my bloody fingerprints manicure & I've been wearing it for a whole week with minimal tip wear & no chipping. The bottle is adorable too.
