Incoco Shooting Stars!

Here we have an accent nail done with Incoco Nail Strips in Shooting Stars from their 4th of July collection. I'm really not the target market for nail polish strips since I change my nails several times a week & these are made to last up to 2 weeks. I REALLY love the ones I've tried so far for accent nail manicures though!

The Incoco strips say they are made of real nail polish & include a layer of base & top coat. The packaging is very nice & you have 16 strips to work with to get your full manicure. Their instructions are very clear & work great if followed. (I didn't buff my nail the first time I tried & a tiny imperfection resulted in a tear. I blame this on me not following instructions & not the product!)

I used Sation Peppermint Pedi for most of my fingers & then added the Incoco Shooting Stars strips to both of my ring fingers. I love the end result & I have plenty of strips left to recreate the look again for myself or to share with some friends.

I know there are people who could make this pattern freehand but I'm not one of them. The only time I can see myself using nail strips is for intricate designs that I know I can't accomplish on my own. Luckily, Incoco has tons of great designs that fit this description!

Layering With JENsations Rainbow Sprinkles & Julep Alma

Just a quick fun layering combo for summer. I started with a base of Julep Alma then topped it with one coat of the fabulous Rainbow Sprinkles from JENsations. (You can see my previous post layering it over a berry jelly polish here.) Still available from her Etsy store for $8. I've got my eye on Turn Off the Lights too!

Layering With Sation Rich In Opportunities & Rv There Yet

You can see a few more of Sation's new Glitters in this post. Sation bottles are oval with thick glass bottoms. The brushes are great for ladies like me that love wide brushes. You can purchase Sation's Big 3 Free polishes at their website. Polishes from the Glitter collection retails for $7.

Here we have one coat of Sation Rich In Opportunities layered over Sation RV There Yet. Rich In Opportunities is a very unique mix of tiny & medium bar glitter & tiny & medium hexagon glitter, all in gold that flashes green suspended in a yellow tinted base!

Sation RV There Yet

I love Sation polishes & I love jelly polishes so Sation Rv There Yet is a real winner. Gorgeous teal jelly with a good formula that covers nicely in two coats. Sadly this one is discontinued but you may be able to find a bottle floating around if it really appeals to you.

Hexagon Accent Nail

I've been loving everything hexagon lately (my Hexagon Pinterest Board) so I decided to do a fun distorted honeycomb pattern accent nail. I love how this one turned out!
I started with a base of Jordana Orangesicle. Then I pulled out my trusty Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens. I love these things. I would have a very difficult time getting this result with a brush but no problem at all with the pens!

Jordana Orangesicle

I recently won one of Jordana's facebook giveaways that included Orangesicle. I've never tired any of their products before but I do like this polish. Nothing revolutionary here but Jordana Orangesicle is a fantastic hot orange creme that's perfect for summer. shown here at 3 coats with a formula that is just fine especially for the $1.99 price tag!

OMG Nail Strips Accent Nail

I have never tried any brand of nail strips before! I really like all of the styles that have been coming out in the pas couple of years but I just never got around to trying any. I finally decided to give them a shot with these OMG Nail Strips. I chose a lovely pattern that I know I can't duplicate. Since I'm a newbie at applying strips I decided to just add an accent nail to my current China Glaze Millennium manicure. (Millennium is still amazing; I need more chrome polishes!) The strips have instructions printed on the package so I just followed them. I have to say I was expecting lots of issues but the application was ridiculously easy! I love the design & I can't wait to try more. I have some American Flag Foil Strips I'll be trying out soon for July 4th.

Layering With Zoya Yana & Maisie

I haven't used any flakies for quite some time & I still love them. Here we have Zoya Yana topped with one coat of Zoya Maisie.

Zoya Yana

Zoya Yana is from their Summer 2013 Stunning Collection.

Zoya Yana is shown here at 2 coats but it could have used a third. The formula seemed a bit off, streaky & sticky with dragging problems even with thin coats. I normally love Zoya polishes & I love Rocky, Darcy & Josie from this collection but I think you can skip the pinks & the orange this time because there are options for these colors with better formulas.
I've just discovered the joys of sun hats. Perfect for working in the yard on blistering hot Oklahoma summer days!

Even More Polka Dots!

I loved my last manicure so much that I decided to update it before moving on to something else. This one started with a base of Zoya Thandie. I then added dots of Zoya Rocky & Zoya Blu. The results are pretty impressive for something so easy. If you want to dive into nail art I highly recommend starting with some polka dots using a dotting tool.

Polka Dot Nail Art Inspired By Chalkboard Nails

I keep a Pinterest board filled with nail art inspiration & this week I chose to try a simple but striking design by Chalkboard Nails. I started with a base of Zoya Thandie & then added a triangle of dots in Zoya Rocky. I love this one!

Superman Nails With Zoya Pixie Dust

My sister Ashley & I went to see Man of Steel last Friday; we were both very excited about this one & wore outfits that invoked the colors of Superman's uniform. I did some quick nail art too. I used Zoya Chyna for most of my nails & Zoya Solange for my accent nail. I added the Superman logo with Zoya Chyna & used Zoya Liberty for the blue background. That logo is not easy to get right but I like the final result. Too bad I hated the movie!

Layering With Zoya Rocky & Nyx

Occasionally a layering combination produces truly magical results like this amazing combo of Zoya Frida & Chloe from last year. I think I've found another winning combination with Zoya Rocky & Nyx! I used one very thing layer of Nyx over Zoya Rocky making sure to apply it carefully so coverage would be even. I got exactly what I was hoping for, a fun, dusty denim blue Pixie Dust finish!

Zoya Rocky

Zoya Rocky is from their Summer 2013 Stunning Collection.

I'm not sure how to accurately describe Zoya Rocky. Obviously it's a blue creme but what kind of blue? It leans ever so slightly green but it could still be considered a sky blue. Application was good at 2 coats. I might have to pull out my other blue cremes soon for a comparison. A very pretty polish to add to my collection.
