Holly Jolly Roger Nails With Zoya And SmartNails

I've always love this Burl Ives rendition of Holly Jolly Christmas and I love pirates and the Jolly Roger flag so I've combined them into one silly but fun holiday manicure. I first tried out this idea way back in 2010 but it didn't turn out very well; my 2014 version is much better!

I started with a base of Zoya Blu for the holly nails and Zoya Willa for the Jolly Roger accent nail. Next I pulled out my trusty SmartNails sticker stencil in their skull design and used Blu to make a great skull and crossbones that I could never do freehand. Finally I added holly berries with a dotting tool and Zoya Veronica and then carefully painted leaves with Zoya Josie. Holly leaves look easy but were quite time consuming and hard to get right. Turns out Smartnails has a very cute holly stencil too if you ever want to try these yourself.

Smart Nails Spider Sticker Stencils

I've been using Smart Nails Sticker Stencils for years and I love them so much! Here we have a quick manicure featuring their spider stencil. I've always liked spiders so having them on my nails doesn't bother me a bit! I started with Deborah Lippmann Fake It Til You Make It and then added spiders using ILNP Cygnus Loop. Such an easy way to get fine details!
You still have a chance to win some Smart Nails of your very own by entering my giveaway!

smARTnails Sticker Stencil Nail Art

smARTnails are sticker stencils that let anyone accomplish nail art VERY easily! I've been using their helpful sticker stencils since 2010 but they have just started releasing new designs so I'll be showing you some fun nail art with them over the next few weeks. But first some links to a few of my favorites from the past - a drippy french manicure, black and white elegance, and USA nail art.

I'm happy to report that my new batch of smARTnails stickers are just as great as I remembered! Here I started with a base of Zoya Haven. The next day I added Zoya Soya song using sticker stencil Drops. You certainly don't have to wait until the next day, just until your base coat is pretty dry, like using striping tape or any other masking tool. Do one nail at a time and remove the stencil right after applying polish for crisp lines. I truly believe that sticker stencils are foolproof and the perfect thing for someone who wants to do nail art but just doesn't feel confident in their ability to do a freehand design. Especially great for accomplishing the same look on both hands!

I love smARTnails sticker stencils!

Lime Crime Les Desserts d'Antionette Nail Art

I used 5 polishes from Lime Crime's first nail polish collection for this manicure. I hadn't used my SmART Nails sticker stencils in quite some time & I still love them so much. Foolproof every time & I love this pattern. The base is Lime Crime Crema de Limon. I started out with just an accent nail of Lavendairy. Then I just decided to go for it & added Parfait Day, Pastelchio, & Blue Mousse.

Born Pretty Sticker Stencils

Born Pretty sent me some of their nail art sticker stencils to try out. These are a fantastic option for someone who has been frustrated by stamping & free hand methods.

You simply peel off one the stencils.

Then place it wherever you want on your already polished nail. You need to wait until your base is mostly dry. The stickers are re-positionable, so no worries if you don't get it quite right at first.

Apply polish to the design. Sticker stencils have a big advantage over stamping because you can use whatever polish you want!

Immediately peel off the stencil, add a layer of top coat and you're all done! Fastest, most foolproof nail art ever!!

At just $4.18 for 10 different designs, this set form Born Pretty is a terrific deal. I've used a similar product from smARTNAILS; they are much more expensive but offer a wider variety and the ability to choose only designs that you really like. Your choice as to which company better suits your needs. Born pretty does offer a ton of nail art options though. You can see other products I've tried from their store here & here.

I used Finger Paints Yellow Bikini for the base & Essie Chinchilly for the design. You can enter to win half of my Bron Pretty Sticker Stencil set in my current giveaway!
