New York City Trip With Zoya!

Just got back from a super fun trip to NYC so I've got a few pictures to show you. If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen a few my nail updates but I'll repost them here with some further explanation.

I started off the trip wearing Zoya London with accent nails of Zoya Tomoko. As usual, everyone wants to know about Tomoko; if you don't have a bottle yet, hurry up before it's gone since it's been discontinued!
Over the course of the trip I started adding bits of Zoya Sunshine and later more Tomoko since my outfits got less grey and more blue and gold over the course the trip. Lots of fun and since Zoya Pixie Dusts dry so fast I could just add a bit whenever I had a few spare minutes. By the end of the trip I had geometric shapes and stripes in all three colors and each nail was different. You can see the progression below.

The highlights of the trip were definitely seeing a large exhibit of paintings and drawings by one of my favorite artists, Egon Schiele at the Neue Gallery and then seeing Black Sheep, Das FX, and ?uestlove at the Brooklyn Bowl. ?uestlove DJs there every Thursday and he walked right by us on his way to set up.

And here are 3 of my favorite pictures from the trip simply because I can't resist.
I call this one The Light and The Dark - NYC 2015. I just think it's hilarious that we accidentally walked around New York the whole time as color coordinated couples! Will and I are the light and my sister Alisa and her boyfriend are the dark. Also Alisa fit in better than all of us with her black puffy coat. EVERYONE seemed to be wearing black puffy coats!
Will posing with a stunning Chuck Close painting at the MEtropiltan Museum of Art.
Me laughing loudly where it just might have been illegal. My laugh is often loud enough to get me in trouble but people usually love it anyway.

OPI Ski Teal We Drop

OPI Ski Teal We Drop is from their Swiss Collection for Fall 2010. It's a gorgeous deep teal that is very easy to apply and shown here in 2 coats. I love OPI's wide brush and Ski Teal We Drop is a very beautiful color unlike any other in my stash. Definitely a keeper and I need to get one for my sister Ashley since this will go so well with her wardrobe.

New Year's Eve Nails

I had lots of fun this New Year's Eve! My friends and I made it to four parties. It was super cold and one event was a pajama party so I decided to wear my fancy velvet nightgown with pockets for the evening. Another party had a hilarious glamour shots photo booth setup and since I was wearing pajamas I decide I'd better kick things up a notch or three with my makeup and nails.

The nails were an easy choice for me. I went with Zoya Dovima with random bits of Zoya Cosmo. I absolutely love the combination of a matte polish with Cosmo which looks like crushed up diamonds! Perfect high glam nails that were lightning fast to do and got lots of attention throughout the night.
My makeup was much more challenging since I've never really worn much mainly because I don't know how. My sister Ashley recently suggested that I watch some of makeup artist Lisa Eldridge's videos and I'm so thankful she did! I found the perfect inspiration for a silly night on the town when anything goes in this video tutorial. I skipped the fake eyelashes and didn't go quite as dramatic with the eyeliner but even stripped down this look was way out of my comfort zone but oh so much fun! Everyone loved the stars on my cheek. All in all a great way to ring in 2015.
Glamour Shot!

Zoya Remy & Ryan

I love blue polish so this tone on tone look is right up my alley. I started with Zoya Remy and then added Zoya Ryan leaving a triangle of Remy exposed. Easy and pretty.

Fastest Christmas Nails Ever!

I love Zoya's recent Matte Velvet collection and I knew I'd be pulling them for holiday manicures as soon as they arrived. Here I present the fastest, easiest Christmas nails ever. I simply alternated Zoya Posh and Zoya Veruschka on my nails and the results are so fun. These polishes work best without base or top coats and they dry super fast. You could be out the door and super festive in almost no time; everyone loved them!

Milani Gold Glitz

I'm not a huge fan of glitter polishes but Milani Gold Glitz is so glamorous and gorgeous! Shown here at 2 easily applied coats. The glitter tends to completely settle to the bottom of the bottle over time but it's fixed quickly with a few turns of the bottle. Gold Glitz features a warm gold micro glitter with sparse copper micro glitter too. Looks great with or without a top coat. I love it!

Maybelline Gilded Rose

Maybelline Gilded Rose is from their Color Show Brocade collection. It's one of the prettiest polishes in my collection and a one coat wonder! Gilded Rose is a super reflective pale yellow gold polish with a healthy sprinkling of small and medium dusty rose glitter. The metallic gold is so shiny and gorgeous and dense that I stopped at just one coat on my right hand as pictured below.
I went ahead and did to coats on my left hand but I could barely see a difference. Maybelline Gilded Rose is a stunner that I didn't want to take off my nails!

Glamorous Glitter Gradient With Zoya

Zoya's Fall Trend Guide recommended using Tomoko for a gradient and it sounded like a great idea to me. As much as I love the Pixie Dusts, I'd never thought about using one quite this way. I paired 2 of my all time favorite Zoyas for a super easy but totally gorgeous version, Zoya Veruschka for the base topped with Zoya Tomoko. This would be a great look for the upcoming holiday season, either as is, or alternating Posh and Veruschka for all out Christmas glam!

Zoya Veruschka

Zoya Veruschka is from their Matte Velvet collection!

I love this entire collection but I think Zoya Veruschka is my favorite. So many people asked me about this polish while I was out running errands! Shown here at 2 easily applied and fast drying coats. The Matte Velvet collection is meant to be worn without base coat or top coat and because of this you can't expect them to last as long as a regular manicure. However I'm happy to report that Veruschka proved to be a real trooper. I searched through a giant crazy store for Halloween outfits, trying on 36 dresses in one day and Veruschka made it though just fine with o chipping or even any tip wear. A new favorite for sure!

Zoya Savita

Zoya Savita is from their Matte Velvet collection!
Zoya Savita is a rich purple matte polish with a hint of shimmer; it really does look like velvet! Shown here at 2 easily applied coats, just be sure to wait a few minutes in between to avoid dragging. A stunning polish that wore very well for a matte with no chips or even any tip wear after 2 days. Great for Halloween and another winner from Zoya. This whole collection is just spectacular!

Can you guess who I might be for Halloween? What if my shirt was blue, my belt buckle was gold, and my shorts were khaki?
How about now? The colors of the outfit aren't right but I just wanted to see if I was comfortable wearing short shorts with a belt and combat boots which is not my normal look! And I needed to see if my hair was long enough to get the right hairstyle. I think if I can find the right colored clothing and make myself a sweet gun holster with thigh straps I can totally pull off Lara Croft from Tomb Raider! Are you dressing up for Halloween? Tell me what you're going to be!

Zoya Posh

Zoya Posh is from their Matte Velvet collection!
Zoya Posh is a truly sexy matte red polish with a hint of shimmer. The whole matte velvet collection is really stunning and I've gotten so many compliments every time I wear any of them. Posh is super pigmented so a careful polisher might be able to get away with just one coat. It's shown here at 2 coats that applied nicely and dried super fast. Zoya calls Posh a metallic but I think velvet is really the correct descriptor. So gorgeous and a definite keeper! This one wore very well for a matte polish and still looked perfect after 2 and half days. I took lots of pictures of this one since it's a new favorite and perfect for Halloween!

My talented sister Alisa put together this spooky dollhouse Halloween scene in my medicine cabinet for my recent pumpkin carving party. She found some amazing pieces online like the bunny and witch Halloween masks on the left! She also made some of the furniture by hand and I love thing whole thing so much!

OPI Love Angel Music Baby

OPI Love Angel Music Baby is from their first Gwen Stefani collection. Shown here at two coats but I could easily have gotten away with just one. OPI Love Angel Music Baby will be added to my growing stash of polishes I can use when I need to get out the door in a hurry! It dries super fast  and applies like a dream with w truly superb formula and their wide brush. I'm in love and might need to buy a backup bottle! Lovers of Zoya Tomoko might want to grab this one too.
