Nicole By OPI Better After Dark

Nicole By OPI Better After Dark was part of a promotion early this year involving Dove Chocolate. They gave away 25,000 sets of two polishes & a coupon for chocolate. I was a lucky winner! This is the first Nicole By OPI polish I've ever tried. The bottle is very oddly shaped & so difficult to hold for pictures without looking awkward! I love the wide brush though. Better After Dark is a lovely medium brown loaded with red shimmer. It was very sheer at first but looked great after just two coats that practically applied themselves thanks to the combination of the wide brush & excellent formula. Not the most exciting color in the world but definitely a keeper!

Zoya Normani

Zoya Normani is from their first release for 2014, Zoya Naturel.

Zoya Normani is a pale brown creme with a hint of mauve, shown here at two coats. I think it could have used a third since I was trying to apply thin coats because the polish was a bit thick. It's a lovely color that will look great on a wide range of skintones but I'm going to pass this one along to a friend. I prefer Zoya Pasha, a highly underrated polish in my opinion!

Zoya Louise

Zoya Louise is from their Fall 2013 Cashmere collection. I don't have nearly enough brown polishes! Louise is a beautiful dark brown that never looks black. Shown here at 2 easily applied coats. I don't think I've ever done a brown polish on my toes but Louise is going to be my next pedicure color for sure.

Zoya Flynn

Zoya Flynn is from their Fall 2013 Cashmere collection. Covers nicely in two coats with a color that is unlike any of in my stash. I got lots of compliments on this one; a friend said it made them want to drink some chocolate milk. A definite winner in my world!

Sation Weed Out The Wimps Layered With Sation Calorie Countess

You can see a few more of Sation's Glitters in this post. Sation bottles are oval with thick glass bottoms. The brushes are great for ladies like me that love wide brushes. You can purchase Sation's Big 3 Free polishes at their website. Polishes from the Glitter collection retails for $7.

Shown here is Sation Weed Out The Wimps topped with one coat of Sation Calorie Countess. Calorie Countess is a mix of tiny & small copper glitter in a clear base. I like this combination but I really need to try it over a coppery brown polish so I can have some full on copper nails!

OPI You Don't Know Jacques Suede & Christmas Garland Nail Art

I love matte & suede finish polishes. I traded my friend Carla-Rose a Nubar 2010 for You Don't Know Jacques Suede. The formula on the suedes is very tricky. It seems like you need to do one coat without going over anything! It starts to ball up and drag when I tried to level it out. I tried waiting a while for it to dry before I did another coat but I had the same problem. I love the look but I could use some application tips ladies!
The next day I used Zoya Holly & Rina to make garland and then added sparkly bows with China Glaze Ruby Pumps. I added a topcoat too.

Disney Hidden Mickey Leopard Nails

This manicure was inspired by the carpet at our hotel when I visited Disney World. We stayed in the Animal Kingdom Lodge and it was spectacular! The parks and hotels are filled with "hidden Mickeys" like the ones in this leopard print carpet.

I didn't have the same polish colors. I chose Maybelline Gold Aluminum for the base and then used my dotting tools and Essie Little Brown Dress for the spots. Here's a shot with an old talking Mickey toy that I've had for as long as I can remember!

We all went on the Wild Africa Trek at the Animal Kingdom. So much fun!

I look like a giant in this next shot!

This is 2 coats of Sally Hansen Baroque Bronze. Very nice formula but I don't really like the narrow brush. Nice color but nothing exciting.

Color Club Positively Posh & A Christmas Manicure

This is 2 coats of Positively Posh, a dusty medium creme that I feel indifferent towards. The formula is a bit runny so there was quite a lot of clean up. I have other browns that I much prefer so this one is going to my "to be frankened" bin.
Next I tried some nail art that really isn't my style but I like to try things a little outside of my comfort zone from time to time. I think I would have preferred a more intense green. I used Color Club Feel the Beat & Maybelline Khaki Fringe.

NYC Molten Metal & Christmas Nail Art

NYC Molten Metal was one of my first lemmings and it doesn't disappoint! It has an amazing formula, shown here at 3 coats. It seemed a bit sheer at first but the foil particles are super dense. It's a silver & taupe foil. Lovely! And I found it for .50 cents at the Dollar Tree. Woohoo!

Below we have a Christmas manicure inspired by the amazing nail blog Blue Tape and Nail Tips. She did a gorgeous Shooting Star manicure earlier this year that immediately made me think of adapting it into a Christmas tree. My first try didn't quite live up to my imagination but it's still a great idea. You ladies should give it a try! Their are so many variations possible. Thanks again to Blue Tape and Nail Tips for the inspiration!

I used my much loved Zoya Edyta for the tree. It's the perfect color! That's my Wally in the picture below.
