Striping Tape Nail Art

I haven't played with striping tape very much but I really like how this simple manicure turned out! The base is Zoya Isa and I added one stripe of silver striping tape to each nail.

LVX Indigo Bleu

LVX Indigo Bleu is from their Spring 2013 collection. This is my first polish from LVX. Here's a little about their brand directly from their website.
LVX brings you luxury and fashion without compromise. We are dedicated to launching the hottest collections for each season by translating the top runway colors based on emerging trends in high fashion.
Our philosophy is to fuse high fashion with nail color. We determine the top trends by closely studying thousands of runway presentations from renowned designers. Our colors are hand selected to be the top colors of the season.
Our long lasting, chip resistant and gel-like formula is free of the 5 toxic and harsh chemicals found in most common nail lacquer formulas. LVX products are formulated without the use of Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, DBP, Toluene and Camphor. We are devoted to providing you with top quality, socially responsible and vegan-friendly luxury products without compromising quality, durability and finish.
LVX nail lacquer is cruelty free. All products are produced in the U.S.A
LVX Indigo Bleu is a gorgeous super dark purple with blue undertones shown here at 2 easily applied coats. A very lovely color that never looks black even in low light.

However, LVX bills itself as a luxury brand and the polishes retail for $16. If I'm paying that much for a polish I want a nice bottle and brush and this one just doesn't cut it. I personally don't like pop off caps and the actual brush handle is stubby and ridged. The actual brush is cut very straight and I found the whole thing a bit difficult to use. I have other gorgeous blues that cost half the price and have nicer brushes.

Zoya Serenity

Zoya Serenity is from their 2015 Island Fun collection. Serenity is a lovely mid toned purple that applies easily in two coats. Great color that's wearable all year round!

Zoya Isa

Zoya Isa is from their summer 2015 collection, Paradise Sun. It's smellier than most Zoya polishes, almost skunky, but not too bad. Application is ok and only required 2 coats, but you do have to be careful not to go over an area multiple times or you'll have dragging issues. All that being said, Isa is a very pretty and well balanced purple polish - not too red or too blue - and I got lots of compliments on it. Overall it's just not my style but my boyfriend loves colors like this for his toes so he has claimed this one!

Zoya Leslie

Zoya Leslie is from their Spring 2015 Delight collection.
Zoya Leslie is flat out beautiful! I usually change my nails every day but I kept it on for 5 days. This shade looks fantastic on me & I just didn't want to take it off which is very rare for me. The turquoise micro shimmer is simply a gorgeous bonus! Shown here at 2 easily applied coats.

Sally Hansen Plum's The Word

Sally Hansen Plum's The Word is part of their Complete Salon Manicure line. This line has fantastic wide brushes that I adore and lots of great colors.Plum's the Word barely needed a second coat and will be very flattering on a wide range of skin tones. Fabulous polish!
I love this beer label! A collaboration between Jester King and Prairie Artisan Ales!

Milani Deep Thoughts

Milani Deep Thoughts is from Spring of 2012. It's shown here at 2 very easily applied coats despite the super skinny brush which is just not to my liking. Deep Thoughts is a blackened purple shimmer, very pretty but just not my style.

Essie Angora Cardi

Essie Angora Cardi is originally from their Fall 2009 collection but is still readily available. I still don't like Essie's super skinny brushes at all and the formula was a bit thick at first. Angora applied nicely after adding just a couple of drops of thinner though. I initially thought this color was a bit boring and planned to pass it along to a friend but I decided to keep it after wearing it for a couple of days and getting several compliments on the shade. It ended up being a very flattering medium toned mauve that looked great with lots of my wardrobe!
This book is fascinating; so glad to be alive now! You can keep up with what I'm reading on Goodreads.

Zoya Petal Swipe Nail Art

Zoya calls this simple nail art the Petal Swipe. Super easy to accomplish using nothing more the brushes that come with your polish. I've done this style once before with Zoya Payton and Amy but this time I started with a base of Zoya Sansa, then added a swipe of Zoya Dannii

Zoya Thea

Zoya Thea is from their Wishes collection for Winter/ Holidays 2014.
Zoya Thea is a Magical Pixie Dust, supposedly similar to their Spring and Summer sets. I loved their super textured look and the holographic glitter. Unfortunately, Thea and the other Magical Pixie Dusts from this set just don't have much Pixie Dust. Thea is still a truly pretty polish but it would be so much more exciting to me if it looked like the textured Pixie dusts I love so much.

The base color reminds me of the gorgeous Zoya Payton from last year's holiday collection. Zoya Thea was fairly easy to apply and is shown here at 2 coats. Dry time is longer than most Pixie Dusts and it never dried matte. I'll keep Thea for now and try it with a topcoat some day.

My amazing socks are from one of the best retail sites on the internet, Sock Dreams. I say they are one of the best because of the remarkable level of detail they use in their product descriptions. Listings are constantly being updated with new measurements not just for each batch of socks, but each color! If this months pink batch is tighter around the thigh than all the other pairs you will know before you order. They have a huge selection of socks and hosiery in a wide variety of sizes. I always go for over the knee and thigh socks. I'm 6' tall and I have several pairs that go all the way up to the top of my thighs! I've been spreading the gospel of Sock Dreams every winter for several years now simply because I think everyone could use some amazing socks to keep them warm and toasty all winter.

Zoya Haven

Zoya Haven is from their upcoming Wishes collection for Winter/ Holidays 2014.
Zoya Haven is a plum polish in what seems to me a slightly dated frost finish. Application wasn't great because the polish is a bit on the thick side and you have to really watch for brushstrokes. I didn't like this one at all at first but it has grown on me. Look how gorgeous it is in photos! Haven isn't my favorite finish or color family but it's still too pretty too pass on and it will look great on Will's toes this winter.

Zoya Savita

Zoya Savita is from their Matte Velvet collection!
Zoya Savita is a rich purple matte polish with a hint of shimmer; it really does look like velvet! Shown here at 2 easily applied coats, just be sure to wait a few minutes in between to avoid dragging. A stunning polish that wore very well for a matte with no chips or even any tip wear after 2 days. Great for Halloween and another winner from Zoya. This whole collection is just spectacular!

Can you guess who I might be for Halloween? What if my shirt was blue, my belt buckle was gold, and my shorts were khaki?
How about now? The colors of the outfit aren't right but I just wanted to see if I was comfortable wearing short shorts with a belt and combat boots which is not my normal look! And I needed to see if my hair was long enough to get the right hairstyle. I think if I can find the right colored clothing and make myself a sweet gun holster with thigh straps I can totally pull off Lara Croft from Tomb Raider! Are you dressing up for Halloween? Tell me what you're going to be!

Zoya Sansa

Zoya Sansa is from their Fall 2014 Ignite Collection.
Zoya Sansa is a very dark purple packed with copper microshimmer. The copper makes it lean brown in many lighting situations but it's a gorgeous rich purple in the the sunlight. Will loves it but it's a bit too dark for my tastes. Sansa is very pigmented and only needs 2 coats but make sure you don't go over an area more than once to avoid dragging.
