Layering With Sally Hansen Pearl Crush Polishes

Sally Hansen's new Pearl Crush polishes are very interesting but a little tough to figure out so I've got lots to say about them! Here we have Sally Hansen Mer-Mint and Shell And Tell layered over Sally Hansen Slick Black. The three Pearl Crush polishes I've tried are too sheer to be worn alone and are meant to be layered but I had a hard time figuring out what colors to choose for a base coat for these two; black seemed like a good default choice.

Both Pearl Crush polishes have fairly large hexagon mylar glitters that constantly shift colors, really gorgeous glitters! Mer-Mint also has a duochrome shimmer that shifts between turquoise and pink and Shell And Tell has a pink shimmer. The polishes apply nicely and I didn't need to do any fishing for the large glitter. The glitters did occasionally stick to each other though creating very small stacks of 2-4 glitters. It was very easy to spot and fix with the brush (I just touched them again and then placed the glitter where I wanted it) and some people might not have noticed. I applied 2 coats of each mostly to make sure the shimmer didn't have any brushstrokes.

Overall the effect was quite remarkable. I decided the glitter looked like droplets of water that were constantly catching the light. I think I could have picked a better base color for both polishes though. These aren't for everyone but if you love unique polishes give them a try! I have one more Pearl Crush to show you soon and it is by far my favorite of the three I tried.

Sally Hansen Slick Black

Sally Hansen Slick Black is from their Triple Shine collection. It's shown here at 3 coats since it was still quite streaky at 2 which I don't expect from darker shimmer polishes. Slick Black ends up looking like the darkest midnight blue in the nail with flashes of silver, very pretty!

Zoya Isa

Zoya Isa is from their summer 2015 collection, Paradise Sun. It's smellier than most Zoya polishes, almost skunky, but not too bad. Application is ok and only required 2 coats, but you do have to be careful not to go over an area multiple times or you'll have dragging issues. All that being said, Isa is a very pretty and well balanced purple polish - not too red or too blue - and I got lots of compliments on it. Overall it's just not my style but my boyfriend loves colors like this for his toes so he has claimed this one!

Zoya Genesis

Zoya Genesis is from their summer 2015 collection, Paradise Sun. It's very streaky at 2 coats and better at 3, as pictured, but I probably could have used a fourth. Genesis is pretty but not my favorite white. I'm still keeping it though since I don't have many whites in my collection.

Zoya Selene

Zoya Selene is from their summer 2015 collection, Paradise Sun. I barely needed a second coat and it applies easily. Selene is a very pretty teal and it practically glows in low light but it's not quite my style. My boyfriend Will loves polishes like this for his toes though!

Zoya Oceane

Zoya Oceane is from their summer 2015 collection, Paradise Sun, shown here at two coats. You have to be careful of dragging and brushstrokes with this one. Oceane is very pretty and practically glows in low light but it's not quite my style. My boyfriend Will loves polishes like this for his toes though!

Zoya Leslie

Zoya Leslie is from their Spring 2015 Delight collection.
Zoya Leslie is flat out beautiful! I usually change my nails every day but I kept it on for 5 days. This shade looks fantastic on me & I just didn't want to take it off which is very rare for me. The turquoise micro shimmer is simply a gorgeous bonus! Shown here at 2 easily applied coats.

Zoya Daisy

Zoya Daisy is from their Spring 2015 Delight collection.
Zoya Daisy looks like lemon drop candy with turquoise micro-shimmer. I love it! Shown here at two coats; it could probably use a third but the formula is great, especially for a yellow polish.

OPI Midnight In Moscow

OPI Midnight In Moscow was originally part of their Fall 2007 Russian collection but has since been added to their Classics line with good reason!

OPI Midnight In Moscow is so fun; it looks like liquid vampires! It's a sheer charcoal jam-packed with brick red micro shimmer. The first coat is streaky but as soon as you start the second coat everything turns rich and glossy and magical. I love OPI's wide brushes too so this one really was a pleasure to apply. I don't usually go for dark, vampy colors but Midnight In Moscow is simply fantastic!
In artificial light so you can see the shimmer.

Revlon Parfumerie Fresh Linen

Revlon Parfumerie Fresh Linen is part of their currently available Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel collection.

Blech! Revlon Parfumerie Fresh Linen is just terrible all around in my opinion. Shown here at 3 coats, the formula is extremely streaky and really needed a fourth coat but I already hated the polish so I stopped. The polish is full of brushstrokes and the color seemed like something that was once white but had turned yellow from sun exposure; not a pretty color or finish in other words. The brush handle is a very stubby ball that I found awkward to use. And then there is the issue of scent. I'm not really into perfume so maybe this just will never be my thing but it smelled like nail polish mixed with a perfumey version of dryer sheets. The smell lingered into the second day of wear and was sometimes unpleasant, especially when I was eating a meal. Blech!
I am a voracious reader. You can check out what I'm reading on my Goodreads profile!

Zoya Rayne

Zoya Rayne is from their Spring 2015 Delight collection.
Zoya Rayne is a medium toned icy blue packed with turquoise micro shimmer. Perfect for snowy, icy cold days or sunny spring weather! Rayne is pretty streaky so I definitely needed 3 coats. Unlike anything else in my collection and definitely a keeper!

Revlon Spice It Up

Revlon Spice It Up is from their 2011 Spice It Up collection. I don't usually go for vampy polishes but there's just something about this one that I really love. Revlon Spice It Up is a deep brick red with copper micro shimmer that applies easily in 2 coats. Gorgeous!
