Revlon Gradient

I love this super simple gradient made with Revlon polishes - Seashell, Banana Blaze, and Cherry Fizz. I started with a base of Seashell and then added Cherry Fizz and Banana Blaze one nail at a time so colors could blend. A foolproof technique that's fast and looks great every time.

My friend Drew makes 3D models for printing and he recently printed this giant anatomical heart. You can download the model to 3D print at Thingiverse! I'm trying to convince him to turn it into a lamp.

Simple Star Wars Nails

I got some fun Star Wars stuff from Think Geek for Christmas and today is May the 4th so I decided to do some quick Star Wars nails to match my shirt. I used Zoya Kelly for the background and then drew the Rebel symbol on one accent nail in Zoya Elisa. I can't believe I managed to get the symmetrical logo right! Maybe the force was with me today.

Cherry Pie Nails!

I wore these hilarious cherry pie nails for Pi Day March 14th. I had lots of fun with this manicure and think they turned out pretty great!
I was already wearing OPI Midnight In Moscow which worked great for the base of my cherry pie filling. I added random dots and blobs of Zoya Oswin for the cherries. Next I needed to find a great golden brown for my pie crust, but somehow I don't have any in my collection! Zoya Nyssa was the closest I could find and it really wasn't the right color. I was about to give up when I spotted my crazy Revlon Glimmer Gloss Banana Blaze. It looks like melted butter with some sugar crystals so I used it to give my whole nail a buttery, sugary glaze! Awesome!

Rouge Louboutin

My wonderful sister, Alisa, got this for me for Christmas since she knew I would never get it for myself. She said I should definitely have it for my collection though and I certainly can't argue!
Rouge Louboutin clocks in at $50 a bottle and I have to say I think it's worth the price if you love beautiful packaging and nice red creme polish. The bottle and brush are around 8" tall and make a big statement! Truly perfect faceted bottle with ombre red to black coloring and a long spiky handle. Just looking at it makes me happy and I think you could use it as a weapon in a pinch!
Rouge Louboutin is a one coat wonder that practically applies itself. The long tapered handle is a pleasure to use and the color is a nicely balanced red that will look great on most anyone. I love it! Thanks Alisa!

Pink Ombre Dots With Zoya!

Every once in a while a manicure turns out exactly the way you saw it in your head and that was the case here. I was going to watch my friend's beautiful dress boutique for the day and I knew I wanted a killer outfit and nails to match. Her shop, Volutpe, is so gorgeous, and I wanted to fit in since I'd be representing her business for the day.
Anyway I picked a grey and pink sweater dress that is super comfy and this giant pair of burgundy socks from Sock Dreams. I did my nails to match, starting with a base of Zoya Dove. Then I added random dots in a variety of Zoya pinks. From darkest to lightest I used Zoya Toni, Reagan, Lara, and Shelby.

Distressed Nails Inspired By Chalkboard Nails

I keep a Pinterest board filled with great nail art by others so I can find something new to try out quickly. I've been wanting to try the impeccable Chalkboard Nails' Distressed tutorial for quite some time and I'm so glad I finally did!

For my version I used some pretty polishes by Lime Crime - Crema De Limon, Peaches Cream, & Pastelchio for the base colors. The tutorial starts over a white background but I was in a hurry so I decided to risk just adding the colors right on my base coat. It's a very easy technique that you can't really mess up. I did each color separately on all fingers and then went back with the fist color to fill in any bare looking bits.

Next I added Essie Little Brown Dress for the dark color on top. The overall effect is similar to crackle polishes (which I still love!) but you have much more control. Great tutorial from Chalkboard Nails as always; I can't wait to try this with different color combinations!

New Year's Eve Nails

I had lots of fun this New Year's Eve! My friends and I made it to four parties. It was super cold and one event was a pajama party so I decided to wear my fancy velvet nightgown with pockets for the evening. Another party had a hilarious glamour shots photo booth setup and since I was wearing pajamas I decide I'd better kick things up a notch or three with my makeup and nails.

The nails were an easy choice for me. I went with Zoya Dovima with random bits of Zoya Cosmo. I absolutely love the combination of a matte polish with Cosmo which looks like crushed up diamonds! Perfect high glam nails that were lightning fast to do and got lots of attention throughout the night.
My makeup was much more challenging since I've never really worn much mainly because I don't know how. My sister Ashley recently suggested that I watch some of makeup artist Lisa Eldridge's videos and I'm so thankful she did! I found the perfect inspiration for a silly night on the town when anything goes in this video tutorial. I skipped the fake eyelashes and didn't go quite as dramatic with the eyeliner but even stripped down this look was way out of my comfort zone but oh so much fun! Everyone loved the stars on my cheek. All in all a great way to ring in 2015.

Christmas Nails With SmartNails & Zoya

These just might be my favorite Christmas nails I've ever done. I started with a base of Zoya Purity and topped it with a layer of Zoya Maria Luisa. Then I used some of my trusty SmartNails sticker stencils for the design. This pattern is called Lace and was so easy to use. I alternated between Zoya Holly & Zoya Blair.
