World Cup USA Nails with Zoya Pixie Dusts!

Once every 4 years I turn into a rabid super fan, sporting team colors, rooting for underdog teams, & spouting facts that I've seemingly absorbed without effort. Only the FIFA World Cup has this effect on me & for good reason. It's quite simply the biggest event on the planet. Whole countries effectively shut down to watch their team play, cease fires have been called for and granted, and some of the most talented (not to mention gorgeous) athletes in the world are on display.

I've got to root for my home team & perpetual underdogs in their group of death this year. This manicure happens to work great for 4th of July too!

I started with one coat of my new all time favorite polish, Zoya Tomoko. Then I added stripes in Zoya Chyna. The Pixie Dust polishes are so good for nail art! Then i tried to make an outlined star with Zoya Sunshine. I'm terrible at drawing stars without the lines in the middle! I ended up trying the stars again with Zoya Bar. They are still wonky but who cares, I love this look overall & I hope the USA can make it to the round of 16. I actually love the Ghana & German teams too (so glad we finally beat Ghana though!) but only 2 teams can go through. My head just might explode tomorrow during the simultaneous games!

Simple Nail Art With China Glaze

Many polish lovers have a few precious polishes that are hard to find. I'm torn between wanting to wear them often & wanting to save them forever. I think this is an excellent compromise. A simple wide stripe of the truly stunning China Glaze 2NITE is framed by China Glaze Liquid Leather. So easy & so pretty!

Valentine's Day Nails Inpired By Yellow Owl Workshop

I've had this adorable Valentine's Day Card from Yellow Owl Workshop in my nail inspiration Pinterest board for quite some time & finally decided to give it a go. I love the results! This is much more ambitious than most of my nail art but was actually pretty easy, if a little time consuming.
I used Sation Snow White, Abbacadazzle, Overdressed Party, & Unicorns Are Teal. The dots were made with a Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in Black.

My Favorite Polka Dots!

Sation Bump In Beige is a truly fantastic polish. I used 2 thin coats to start this manicure. It applies like a dream with no streaks. It's also the best match for my skintone which is exactly what I wanted for this look. I added large & small dots of Sation Snow White in no particular pattern & the results are magical. I couldn't quit staring at my nails & wanted to show them off to everyone. Good thing I have a blog for that! Nude nails with a pattern in a bold color are something I'll be doing again for sure. Also this is very easy to do, so if you like it, give it a try!

It's so cold! I can't wait for winter to end!

Accent Nail Inspired By Work Play Polish With Sation

I love this stunning manicure from the always delightful Work Play Polish. I'm not patient enough to do all ten nails like she did but my accent nail version is one of my favorite manicures ever! I started with Sation Need A Spumani. Then I added uneven stripes of random Sations from my collection. From top to bottom on my nail & left to right in the picture we have, Cafe Con Leche, Stirring Silver, Dating The Duke, Peppermint Pedi, Need A Spumani, Queenie In A Bottle, Rock-A-Guy-Blue, & Chatty Catty.

Chevron Tips With Zoya; Or The Day I Left The House In My Pajamas

This post from Zoya live was the inspiration for these nails, pairing a matte polish with something super shiny. My version with Zoya Dream & Zoya Phoebe turned into one of my favorite manicures of the year. I love this color combination!

Now a brief word about my outfit. I went to a pajama party that night with Chuck Palahniuk, Chelsea Cain, & Monica Drake! It's not easy to figure out what to wear to a public pajama party... My hometown is very lucky to have Booksmart Tulsa bringing incredible author events to town on a regular basis. This one was really over the top. More than 900 people at the downtown library that is closed for renovations. Vandalism allowed! LED beach balls! Spooky stories! Lots of fun! Below is a quick video of the insanity.

I started with a base of Sation Hottie Biscottie then added thin french tips in black, gold, bronze & silver sharpie. I love them! It's extremely easy, a bit edgy & very modern..

Zoya Maria Luisa & A Ghostbusters Halloween!

Zoya Maria Luisa was originally created by Rafael Cennamo for his Fall/Winter 2103 NYFW show. (You can read all about it here at Gothem Polish's excellent post.) Now it's available to the general public as part of Zoya's Satins - Fall 2013 collection.
Zoya Maria Louisa is a warm gold flakie polish that I decided to try out alone since it's so dense. Shown here at two very easily applied coats, especially for a flakie! I think it looks fantastic on it's own since it's so very reflective & will take on a hint of whatever color you're wearing. I think it will look fantastic paired with pretty soft white polish or maybe a red for Christmas. Definitely my favorite from this collection & a must have for any flakie lover.

My friends & I decided on a Ghostbuster theme this year for Halloween. My friend Drew made patches for the jumpsuits & the rest of the guys costumes came from things we already had or that could be picked up inexpensively at Harbor Freight. My friend Melanie transformed her normally stylish self into Gozer the Gozerian & I turned into Zuul for the evening. Lots of fun & Zoya Maria Luisa looked great with outfit!
