Revlon For Valentine's Day

Here are some quick and easy Valentine's Day nails for you. I started with a base of Revlon Spice It Up and then added a layer of Revlon Sparkling to most of my nails. Revlon Sparkling is a clear base with small circle and medium hex glitter in a nice rosey pink, not my style but pretty. I'm not usually a fan of most glitter toppers though. I added a large heart of Revlon sparkling for an accent nail. Pretty manicure even if it's a bit out of my comfort zone.

Layering With Milani Diamond Dazzle

I'm not usually interested in glitter toppers but Milani Diamond Dazzle is awfully pretty! This is one coat of Diamond Dazzle layered over Milani Deep Thoughts. I love the delicate pastel glitter and it was very easy to apply with great coverage in just one coat. Easy to remove for a glitter polish too.

Quick Glitter Gradient

Glitter gradients will probably always be my favorite go to nail look. They are fast, easy, foolproof, and fancy every time. For this version I started with a base of Milani Blackberry Baby and then added Sation Rich In Opportunities. I really wish Sation was still making polish; they had so many great colors and I loved their wide brush. Do any of you have any beloved Sations?

Nicole By OPI Pick Of The Glitter

I only have a few Nicole By OPI polishes and I'm still not sure what I think of the bottle overall; I don know it's a bit awkward to hold in photos though! Pictured here we have Nicole By OPI Promises In The Dark topped with one coat of Nicole By OPI Pick Of The Glitter. Pick of the glitter is very dense and I love the combination of turquoise and copper glitters but it's really just not my style so I'll be passing this one along to a friend.

ORLY Starburst

ORLY Starburst is from their space inspired Galaxy FX set.
ORLY Starburst is a milky white jelly polish filled with small red glitter, slightly larger dark orange hex glitter, medium pale gold hex glitter and large white round glitter! The formula was excellent for a polish with so much glitter and I love the idea of this polish but in reality it just didn't quite work for me. While there was no need to fish for large glitters and the polish went on very nicely, the white circles had a tendency to stack on top of each other in tall clumps. I just couldn't get this one to look anything other than lumpy and kind of gross on my nails. It was also a nightmare to remove even at just 2 coats. I was picking off glitter for well over an hour! Cool idea and really good application but this one just isn't for me. I still love the idea of this collection though and there brush handle/cap is my absolute favorite.
Keep up with what I'm reading on Goodreads! Chew is one of my current favorite series!
Hot Chicks on Wolves is still one of my all time favorite Threadless shirts!

Christmas Layering With Sinful Holiday Rebel & A DIY Krampus

Christmas isn't over on the 25th at my house. We always have at least a few present opening sessions since everyone can't be here at the same time. I'm still wearing a pretty layering combination that's perfect for the holiday season. Sation I'm With The Bandana is one of my all time favorite polishes and I topped it with one coat of Sinful colors Holiday Rebel. Holiday Rebel has small green glitter and medium red hex glitter in a clear base. A subtle holiday look that I really like.
Gremlins is a Christmas movie right?

We made our own Krampus by modifying a moose dog toy. We taped up his antlers with black electrical tape & gave him a homemade switch. Then we added some evil yellow eyes and a curly long tongue made from craft foam, then mean eyebrows made with a black pipe cleaner for the final touch. I love him!

ORLY Black Hole

ORLY Black Hole is from their space inspired Galaxy FX set.

ORLY Black Hole is a black jelly loaded with medium blue bar glitter, small red hex glitter, medium white hex glitter, and large red and purple circle glitter. It was very easy to apply though I only managed to get a few of the large circle glitters on my nails. I love the layered look you get with the black jelly base and it really does look spacey to me. Super fun polish!
I don't have nearly enough ORLY polish in my stash! I really love their rubber grippy brush handle and they have lots of fun collections.

Milani Gold Glitz

I'm not a huge fan of glitter polishes but Milani Gold Glitz is so glamorous and gorgeous! Shown here at 2 easily applied coats. The glitter tends to completely settle to the bottom of the bottle over time but it's fixed quickly with a few turns of the bottle. Gold Glitz features a warm gold micro glitter with sparse copper micro glitter too. Looks great with or without a top coat. I love it!

Maybelline Gilded Rose

Maybelline Gilded Rose is from their Color Show Brocade collection. It's one of the prettiest polishes in my collection and a one coat wonder! Gilded Rose is a super reflective pale yellow gold polish with a healthy sprinkling of small and medium dusty rose glitter. The metallic gold is so shiny and gorgeous and dense that I stopped at just one coat on my right hand as pictured below.
I went ahead and did 2 coats on my left hand but I could barely see a difference. Maybelline Gilded Rose is a stunner that I didn't want to take off my nails!

Glitter Gradient With Zoya

Zoya Monet has been a surprise favorite polish for me this year. I've never really been a huge fan of glitter toppers but this one is just so gorgeous! Here I used it for a glitter gradient over Zoya Genevieve.
I love graphic novels and comic books! You can see what else I've been reading on Goodreads.

Jamberry Glitter Gradient

A friend of mine let me borrow a few Jamberry polishes to try out since I've never used them before and I was able to do a lovely glitter gradient with two of the polishes. I started out with a base of Jamberry Kiss and then added a bit of Jamberry Stardust to the base of my nails. Stardust is a mixture of very fine glitter in fuchsia, gold, and turquoise. It would make a fantastic Mardi Gras polish!

She let me borrow two other polishes that are sadly discontinued. The yellow polish is called Lemon Drop and it's one of the best yellow cremes I've ever tried. Yellow cremes are notorious for being a streaky gloppy messes but this one was fantastic and barely needed a second coat!

Sally Hansen Carnival - Second Try

I love the color combination of the glitter in Sally Hansen Carnival so much that I decided to try it again even though my first attempt was quite horrible. I added a bit of thinner and used one thin coat over Sally Hansen Cafe Au Lait. Still so many bubbles!
Next I added even more thinner and tried again on my right hand. Lots less bubbles but not enough glitter. Phooey!
It still looks amazing from a distance and many of my lovely readers have suggested that I try sponging it on next time. I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes someday! What are your favorite matte glitters that don't bubble?!?

Zoya Harper

Zoya Harper is my favorite from their Summer 2014 Bubbly collection.

Zoya describes Harper as "a cotton candy pink with a spun gold shimmer. Featuring the exclusive liquid-metal holographic jelly formula" & I agree. I love the way Zoya does gold & silver micro shimmer & it looks particularly stunning in a jelly formula. As for the holographic sparkles, they are the same lovely pastel cellophane glitter featured in Monet, just in a smaller size. Zoya Harper is shown here at 2 coats but I could almost get away with just one.

I didn't really like pink polish when I started blogging way back in 2009 but now I love a gorgeous pink and Harper has made into my top 5 favorite pinks for sure! I'd say this one is a must have for pink polish lovers.
