Valentine's Day Nails Inpired By Yellow Owl Workshop

I've had this adorable Valentine's Day Card from Yellow Owl Workshop in my nail inspiration Pinterest board for quite some time & finally decided to give it a go. I love the results! This is much more ambitious than most of my nail art but was actually pretty easy, if a little time consuming.
I used Sation Snow White, Abbacadazzle, Overdressed Party, & Unicorns Are Teal. The dots were made with a Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in Black.

Accent Nail For Valentine's Day With Zoya Purlpes, Pinks, & Reds

I love this stunning manicure from the always delightful Work Play Polish. I'm not patient enough to do all ten nails like she did but my accent nail version is quite easy. This is the second time I've used this inspiration & you can see my first color combination here.
This time I decided to use purples, pinks, & reds for Valentine's Day.  I decided not to add a top coat to the accent nail since I used both a textured polish & a matte polish. I love it!
I started with a base of Zoya Pepper. Then I added uneven stripes with more Zoya favorites from my stash. From bottom to top on my nail & left to right in the picture we have, Kristi, Tru, Stevie, Shelby, Pepper, Kieko, Lolly, Brizia, & Arabella.

Valentine's Day Nail Art

I keep a Pinterest board filled with nail art inspiration from all sorts of places. Today's manicure was inspired by some adorable cookies made by hello naomi. Very sweet for Valentine's Day.

I started with Rimmel Pink Bliss and used my trusty Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens for the design.

Zoya Kym With Holiday Accent Nail

I'm not a big fan of rhinestones but they are fun every now & then. When I got these green triangle stones, I knew I had to try making a Christmas tree. The base is Zoya Kym. Pretty cute accent nail!

Snowflakes With Zoya Trixie, Electra, & Zuza

Sometimes a nail art idea is cooler in my head than in the final execution. This one turned out just fine but my original idea of half moons turned into pretty snowflakes just isn't quite what I was going for. I love the color combination though! Two coats of Zoya Trixie topped with one coat of Zoya Electra. The snowflakes are Zoya Zuza.

Zoya Channing & Zoya Godiva

I topped Zoya Channing with a generous dose of Zoya Godiva for a festive & subtle holiday look. The fabrics for an upscale coat for Mrs Claus perhaps?

Zoya Maria Luisa & A Ghostbusters Halloween!

Zoya Maria Luisa was originally created by Rafael Cennamo for his Fall/Winter 2103 NYFW show. (You can read all about it here at Gothem Polish's excellent post.) Now it's available to the general public as part of Zoya's Satins - Fall 2013 collection.
Zoya Maria Louisa is a warm gold flakie polish that I decided to try out alone since it's so dense. Shown here at two very easily applied coats, especially for a flakie! I think it looks fantastic on it's own since it's so very reflective & will take on a hint of whatever color you're wearing. I think it will look fantastic paired with pretty soft white polish or maybe a red for Christmas. Definitely my favorite from this collection & a must have for any flakie lover.

My friends & I decided on a Ghostbuster theme this year for Halloween. My friend Drew made patches for the jumpsuits & the rest of the guys costumes came from things we already had or that could be picked up inexpensively at Harbor Freight. My friend Melanie transformed her normally stylish self into Gozer the Gozerian & I turned into Zuul for the evening. Lots of fun & Zoya Maria Luisa looked great with outfit!

Cauldron Nails

Sometimes a cool idea just doesn't quite turn out the way you want it too. I got the idea from the blog Top Coat It who posted these amazing cauldron nails last year. I decided to make the cauldrons half moons & use a different polish for each spell. Great idea in theory but the end result is a bit of a mess. Maybe I'll try again next year.
I started with Sation Lemon Pearl then used my Silver Sharpie & a Sally Hansen Nail Art pen for the Cauldrons. The spells from thumb to pinky: JENsations Rainbow Sprinkles, Juicy Couture Pink Glitter, Wet N Wild Once Upon A Time, Enchanted Polish, Finger Lickin' Good, & Zoya Electra.

Layering With Wet N Wild Once Upon A Time

I wanted to get Wet N Wild Once Upon A Time to look like it does in the bottle. I originally tried just using it alone but the dark grey jelly base was just too streaky. Next I tried one coat of Sation Seriously Slate & got the look I was going for, still obviously a jelly base color but no streaks. Fun layering combination for Halloween!

French Manicure Inspired By Drusilla

I've finally started watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Angel. I knew I would love the shows, but I had just never gotten around to them. Here we have some simple nails inspired by the character of Drusilla, just in time for Halloween too. She always wore french manicures with various shade of red for the base color. You can see a version here.
For my Drusilla nails I used Zoya Livingston & topped them off with Zoya Gaia. Not a look I would normally wear, but fun for Halloween!

Here we have one coat of Enchanted Polish Finger Lickin' Good layered over one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Jumpin' Jade. Finger Lickin' Good is a truly spectacular & unique glitter that is sadly from last year's limited edition fall collection. I'm so glad to have a bottle since it's my favorite Halloween polish!

Red, White, & Blue With Zoya

These are actually last year's 4th of July nails that I never got around to posting. I still love them & they are super easy to do. I started with a base of Zoya Farah. Next I sponged Zoya Breezi & Zoya Rekha using a bit of slightly damp sponge. You really can't mess up a manicure like this!

OMG Nail Foil Strips American Flag

I've been on a nail strip kick lately & I couldn't wait to try out these American Flag Nail Foils from OMG Nails. They are harder to work with than the non-foil type but still totally usable with a bit of patience. I painted my nails with the amazing Zoya Elisa & added an accent American Flag nail. Perfect 4th of July nails in no time!

Incoco Shooting Stars!

Here we have an accent nail done with Incoco Nail Strips in Shooting Stars from their 4th of July collection. I'm really not the target market for nail polish strips since I change my nails several times a week & these are made to last up to 2 weeks. I REALLY love the ones I've tried so far for accent nail manicures though!

The Incoco strips say they are made of real nail polish & include a layer of base & top coat. The packaging is very nice & you have 16 strips to work with to get your full manicure. Their instructions are very clear & work great if followed. (I didn't buff my nail the first time I tried & a tiny imperfection resulted in a tear. I blame this on me not following instructions & not the product!)

I used Sation Peppermint Pedi for most of my fingers & then added the Incoco Shooting Stars strips to both of my ring fingers. I love the end result & I have plenty of strips left to recreate the look again for myself or to share with some friends.

I know there are people who could make this pattern freehand but I'm not one of them. The only time I can see myself using nail strips is for intricate designs that I know I can't accomplish on my own. Luckily, Incoco has tons of great designs that fit this description!
