Sponged Layering With Zoya Apple & Zoya Vespa

I tried this technique a few days ago & I couldn't wait to try it again. The results aren't as dramatic as last time but still very pretty!

For this manicure I started with my Zoya Vespa nails from yesterday. I added a thin layer of Zoya Apple & then used a makeup sponge to take off most of that layer leaving behind the gorgeous golden flecks & intensifying the green. Gorgeous & super, super easy. I think this technique would work with some of Zoya's other shimmer polishes like Fei Fei.or Faye.

You can see the golden difference between my left pointer & the rest in this shot.

Sponged Layering With Zoya Edyta & Zoya Nyx

I love the Zoya Pixie Dust so much; I can't wait for the summer collection to come out so I can have more colors! In the meantime I've been experimenting with ways to layer & keep the matte texture.

For this manicure I started with my Zoya Nyx nails from yesterday. I added a thin layer of Zoya Edyta & then used a makeup sponge to take off most of that layer leaving behind the gorgeous golden flecks & a hint of the dark green base color. I love it!!! My nails looked like some sort of mineral or maybe antique hammered gold. Gorgeous & super, super easy. I think this technique would work with some of Zoya's other shimmer polishes like Fei Fei.or Faye.

Layering With Zoya Cho & Godiva

Zoya Godiva is my third textured polish to try from their Zoya Pixie Dust Collection. I love it just as much as the others I've tried!

Here's what Zoya has to say about these polishes.
Infused with magic and wonder! The latest "must-have" nail polish finish - textured, matte and sparkling! This newly developed formula is sure to captivate with a magical sparkle and sugary finish like no other. The color experts at Zoya have created six, long-wearing stunners for the introduction of this enchanting look.

IMPORTANT Pixie Dust Application Information - Do not use a base coat or top coat. Apply 1-3 (for full coverage) thin coats of polish. Allow product to dry down completely matte in between layers for full textured effect. The Pixie Dust textured formula may take up to 10 minutes to dry completely matte. Once dry, the textured finish is long lasting, matte and ultra-glittery!
I followed the above instructions for both Chyna & Dahlia and they worked great, but I decided to try something different for Godiva. (That's what nail polish bloggers are here for right?) I tried layering it over Zoya Cho on my nail wheel & I could only detect the slightest of differences in the end result.
On the left Zoya Cho & Godiva layered, on the right three coats of Godiva.

I used my regular base coat (Nailtek Foundation II), then two coats of Zoya Cho, topped with one coat of Zoya Godiva. Most bloggers report that Godiva needs three coats for full coverage. Since you definitely need to wait for each coat to dry when applying the Pixie Dust polishes, this seems like a nice alternative.

I'm totally in love with this collection so far. Zoya Cho & Godiva are the perfect companions!

Layering With Zoya Trixie & Electra

I liked the accent nail from my last manicure so much that I decided to do all of my nails! 2 coats of Zoya Trixie with one coat of Zoya Electra on top. Not for everyday but fun every now & then.
Here's a quick shot of Electra over black.

Layering With Sation Tall Dark & Has Some & Stirring Silver

This is one coat of Sation Stirring Silver topped with a gradient of Sation Tall Dark & Has Some. It's a very unique glitter with medium black circles, tiny turquoise glitter, & large turquoise shards in a clear base. So cool & similar in type to a favorite from last year, Sation Ego Friendly. I love this combination!

Abstract Modern Christmas Or Accidental Bloody Mary Nails?

I love this combination! Sation I Love Yule topped with Sation Ego Friendly. I thought it looked very holiday appropriate but Will says it looks like a bloody mary. Maybe that is holiday appropriate too! Either way, Ego Friendly is a truly incredible polish!

Layering With Lime Crime Pastelchio & Milani HD

I've been meaning to try using Milani HD as a holographic topcoat & I thought Lime Crime Pastelchio would be fun to use as a base color. I had to be a bit careful when applting to keep it from being streaky but it worked pretty well. I would love to have an actual neon lime green holo polish!

Lime Crime Lavendairy & Layering With Color Club Covered In Diamonds

Lime Crime has released their first nail polish collection & they've done quite a good job. The packaging is fabulous, full of purple, glitter & unicorns. I love the bottle shape & the brushes are a bit wider than most which I always prefer. The collection, called Les Desserts d'Antoinette, contains a rainbow of pastel shades & an off white.  The formulas were all a little on the thick side & work much better with thick, as opposed to thin coats. Overall a very good first polish offering! Here's what Lime Crime has to say about their polishes.

7 pastel shades, inspired by confectionery delights from Marie Antoinette's table. Recklessly pigmented crème formula is rich, smooth and opaque in just two coats. Each bottle comes equipped with a flat, wide brush for superb control and flawless application. Never tested on animals. 3-Free.
Lime Crime Lavendairy is a lovely lilac pastel that I find very flattering with my skin tone. I think it will be on my toes a lot this coming winter. I had a bit of trouble with this one until I figured out that thick coats work better than thin with this collection. Shown here at 2 coats.

The next day I added a layer of Color Club Covered In Diamonds. It's an interesting polish but sadly the mylar pieces seem to have degraded over time & the polish is even gloppier than that was the last time I'll be using it.

Chain Of Hearts Nail Art

Just a quick post with an old manicure that I didn't manage to get any great pictures of even though I really liked it! I used The drop dead gorgeous Zoya Keiko for the base & Zoya Chloe for the flakies inside the heart. Same chain & technique as these nails I did last Christmas.
