Zoya Sansa

Zoya Sansa is from their Fall 2014 Ignite Collection.
Zoya Sansa is a very dark purple packed with copper microshimmer. The copper makes it lean brown in many lighting situations but it's a gorgeous rich purple in the the sunlight. Will loves it but it's a bit too dark for my tastes. Sansa is very pigmented and only needs 2 coats but make sure you don't go over an area more than once to avoid dragging.

Zoya Matte Velvet: Quick First Impressions

I love matte polishes with a bit of sparkle so I was very excited when Zoya announced the return of their Matte Velvet collection. I must say my excitement seems very justified; these are some super sexy polishes!

The formulas are all excellent especially for matte polishes which can be a bit of a nightmare to apply. Looks like you'll be able to get away with just two easily applied coats for most and maybe even just one coat for Posh. I'm currently wearing Dovima and I can't quit staring at my nails.
 Dovima, Harlow, Loredana
 Posh, Savita, Veruschka

While I think guys can wear any color they want on their toes or their hands, this matte collection would be a great place to start. My boyfriend Will has worn Zoya Lolly (one of their previous mattes)on his toes twice and it looks fantastic!

Zoya Ultra Pixie Dust: Quick First Impressions

I'm madly in love with all of Zoya's previous Pixie Dust polishes but this collection is bit confusing. Arianna and Noir just don't have much Pixie Dust for lack of a better description. You can see it quite clearly in the photo below. Arianna and Noir on the left look like "thirsty" glitter polishes (polishes requiring more than one coat of top coat to look glossy) after only one coat has been applied. Neither polish dries matte or even very textured. You can see lots of the bare base color (especially with Noir) since there isn't much of the Pixie Dust particles. On the right Oswin and Chyna which are loaded with Pixie Dust and dry very textured and matte.

I've seen a few bloggers say that this is a batch problem that only happened to polishes sent out for samples but I haven't been able to confirm this anywhere. Do any of you have pictures of Arianna and Noir looking more like Pixie Dusts? I found this great post from Lavish Layerings featuring this collection purchased from Ulta and it looks like there was indeed a batch problem with the press samples since all three of her polishes dry matte and look like Pixie Dust polishes.

All three are lovely nonetheless and I'll be showing you full manicures in the future. I think Arianna and Noir will look better with a regular top coat.

Gradient Nails - Zoya Aubrey & Daul

Just a quick post with a pretty fall gradient, still my favorite nail art for so many reasons! They are so easy to accomplish that you really can't mess them up so you can definitely do both hands. They are very fast and they'll cover up tip wear and even minor chipping. For this version I started with a base of Zoya Aubrey and added the drop dead gorgeous Zoya Daul.
I love to read! If you do too please find me on goodreads!

Zoya Veronica

Zoya Veronica is from their Fall 2014 Entice Collection.
Zoya Veronica barely needs a second coat and applies like a dream. Nothing ground breaking here but Veronica will be flattering on most any skin tone and the formula is superb. Definitely a keeper!

Gradient With Zoya Claire & Ryan

Sometimes the simplest manicures turn out the loveliest. I sponged a bit of Zoya Ryan on top of Zoya Claire, then added my topcoat and magic happened. I took a ton of photos of this combination since I loved it so much.

 My dog, Wally, is adorable!

American Apparel California Trooper

Today I'm revisiting one of my top five favorite polishes, American Apparel California Trooper. I haven't used it in a few years so I wanted to see if I still love it and I sure do! American Apparel polishes have my all time favorite bottle, thin and rectangular, which makes them line up oh so nicely for storage. California Trooper isn't currently available on American Apparel's site but they have a ton of colors I would love to own. I might have to ask for some this Christmas.

Do you guys have any favorite American Apparel polishes?

Zoya Ryan

Zoya Ryan is from their Fall 2014 Entice Collection.
Zoya Ryan is shown here at just one coat. It's a bit than I normally like as it can look black in low lighting bu I never pass up a one coat wonder! Zoya Ryan will be great for nail art both as a dark background that's not quite as harsh as black and for detail work since it's so pigmented. An excellent polish!
