Zoya Ultra Pixie Dust: Quick First Impressions
I'm madly in love with all of Zoya's previous Pixie Dust polishes but this collection is bit confusing. Arianna and Noir just don't have much Pixie Dust for lack of a better description. You can see it quite clearly in the photo below. Arianna and Noir on the left look like "thirsty" glitter polishes (polishes requiring more than one coat of top coat to look glossy) after only one coat has been applied. Neither polish dries matte or even very textured. You can see lots of the bare base color (especially with Noir) since there isn't much of the Pixie Dust particles. On the right Oswin and Chyna which are loaded with Pixie Dust and dry very textured and matte.
I've seen a few bloggers say that this is a batch problem that only happened to polishes sent out for samplesbut I haven't been able to confirm this anywhere. Do any of you have pictures of Arianna and Noir looking more like Pixie Dusts? I found this great post from Lavish Layerings featuring this collection purchased from Ulta and it looks like there was indeed a batch problem with the press samples since all three of her polishes dry matte and look like Pixie Dust polishes.
All three are lovely nonetheless and I'll be showing you full manicures in the future. I think Arianna and Noir will look better with a regular top coat.
Thanks for reading!
