Red, White, & Blue With Zoya

These are actually last year's 4th of July nails that I never got around to posting. I still love them & they are super easy to do. I started with a base of Zoya Farah. Next I sponged Zoya Breezi & Zoya Rekha using a bit of slightly damp sponge. You really can't mess up a manicure like this!

Sponged Layering With Zoya Apple & Zoya Vespa

I tried this technique a few days ago & I couldn't wait to try it again. The results aren't as dramatic as last time but still very pretty!

For this manicure I started with my Zoya Vespa nails from yesterday. I added a thin layer of Zoya Apple & then used a makeup sponge to take off most of that layer leaving behind the gorgeous golden flecks & intensifying the green. Gorgeous & super, super easy. I think this technique would work with some of Zoya's other shimmer polishes like Fei Fei.or Faye.

You can see the golden difference between my left pointer & the rest in this shot.

Sponged Layering With Zoya Edyta & Zoya Nyx

I love the Zoya Pixie Dust so much; I can't wait for the summer collection to come out so I can have more colors! In the meantime I've been experimenting with ways to layer & keep the matte texture.

For this manicure I started with my Zoya Nyx nails from yesterday. I added a thin layer of Zoya Edyta & then used a makeup sponge to take off most of that layer leaving behind the gorgeous golden flecks & a hint of the dark green base color. I love it!!! My nails looked like some sort of mineral or maybe antique hammered gold. Gorgeous & super, super easy. I think this technique would work with some of Zoya's other shimmer polishes like Fei Fei.or Faye.

Random Sponged Nails

I used Sinful Cinderella as the base. Then I used a highly textured sponge to dab on bits of Nina Ultra Pro Leaf Me Alone, Sation Holiday Pink, & Sation Heather. Very easy & hard to mess up; I like the results!

Zoya Toni & Cho Gradient Inspired By Red Nightfall Beans

My sister Alisa posted this lovely picture of red nightfall beans to my Nail Inspiration Pinterest board. I realized Zoya Toni was the perfect base color & added a sponged gradient of Zoya Cho. I love how they turned out!!

Sation Blue Sky's The Limit & Cloud Nail Art

Sation bottles are oval with thick glass bottoms. The new brushes are great for ladies like me that love wide brushes & they are priced at just $5. You can purchase Sation's Big 3 Free polishes at their website. Sation will be releasing a new fall collection soon called Little Horse On The Prairie.
Sation Blue Sky's The Limit is my new favorite blue polish!! I've been looking for a cornflower blue creme for a long time & this one is exactly what I had in mind. This one is just a bit dustier than a true sky blue & oh so pretty! The formula is a bit thicker than my other Sations & I did need a bit of thinner to get the consistency I like. It's very pigmented though & I only needed 2 coats for opacity. Gorgeous polish!

The next night I decided to turn my blue nails into blue skies. I used Sation Snow White to sponge myself some clouds & Barielle Soul-er Powered (I forgot how pretty it is!) for the sun. Super easy!

Pomegranate Fiery & Lava Lamp Nails?

Pomegranate polishes are big 3free - no toluene, formaldehyde, or DBP. They are also cruelty-free & made in the USA! Pomegranate brushes are very narrow but I know some of you ladies like narrow brushes for more control. They can be purchased from their website for $9.

Pomegranate Fiery is a beautiful one coat wonder! This is one of the shades I never would have picked for myself but I love it so much. Superb formula that looks spectacular at just one easily applied, streak free coat. There is still visible nail line but I don't mind that at all. Perfect summer polish!

The next day I tried out a manicure that looked awesome in person but I just couldn't capture it in my photos. Will says it looks like a lava lamp! I just added some big dots of Sation Violet Flare and then sponged them flat.

Sation Show Off Your Navel Orange & A Gradient

Sation bottles are oval with thick glass bottoms. The new brushes are great for ladies like me that love wide brushes. You can purchase Sation's Big 3 Free polishes at their website. Sation has just released their first limited edition collection, California Gleamin', available now.

Sation Show Off Your Your Navel Orange is super bright, much brighter than I could capture with my camera. My friend saw it, said "Whoa! It's like fluorescent melon!" It's got a bit of shimmer & dries matte, like most neons do. The formula was pretty good for a neon as long as you wait a few minutes between coats. This is a fun color but I've never been a big fan of neons so I think I'll pass it on to friend who loves them.

The next night I added a sponged gradient with the lovely Zoya Caitlin. Pretty fun & unexpected color combination!

Failed Water Marble Almost Saved

I haven't tried a water marble in along time so I thought I'd give it a shot. I didn't like the way it turned out, not horrible but just not enough of any of the colors. I decided to try & save it by adding more polish by sponging & just using a brush to fill in some areas.
These are all photos of the fixed up version. I used Zoya Tracie for the base & Wet N Wild Teal of Fortune & NYC Molten Metal for the marbling & sponging. Turned out ok in the end.

Zoya Rory & A Rather Boring Gradient

This is 2 coats of Zoya Rory, a "medium mauve pink with lilac tones, gold and silver reflective metallic shimmer accents, and a foil-like finish." The formula is just like Zoya Edyta & you'll need to wait a few minutes between coats. I"m passing this one to a friend as I just don't like the way it looks with my skin tone.
The next day I was feeling uninspired so I tried one of my favorite easy techniques & applied a quick sponge gradient with Zoya Carly. The results were just kind of blah & I looked for another color to stamp on top but nothing quite worked out. Not a bad manicure, just kind of boring.

Mister Mittens' Big Adventure Nails!

I knew I had to do some nails inspired by my Mr. Mitten's shirt when  I wore it with Zoya Myrta. I used tape strips to block off the lasers then painted a coat of American Apparel Hassid followed quickly with a sponge effect in Zoya Breezi. I love them & my silly shirt. You can still get a Mister Mittens' Big Adventure shirt for yourself.

Blue Sponged Nail Art

I tried sponging a few weeks ago and it was lots of fun. Here's my second attempt. I used Zoya Breezi for the base and then sponged Maybelline Matte Sapphire & Maybelline Blue Aluminum on top. Super easy and lovely!
