Born Pretty Nail Foil

Born Pretty sent me a few fun things to try out including my first nail foil. I don't have any nail foil glue so I used the the slightly tricky technique of waiting for your polish to dry just the right amount before applying the foil. I messed up my first few attempts wither by waiting too long or not waiting long enough. I felt like Goldilocks & was about to give up when I finally got it just right.

Your base polish has to be dry enough that you can't dent it but still just a bit tacky. Then you just place the foil on your nail and give to a good scratch, depositing the metal onto your nail. I love the way it looked immediately. Unbelievably shiny and smooth! I'd read that adding a topcoat causes foils to shrink & lose a bit of their shine but I found it necessary since the foil wore off very quickly without a topcoat. It still looked cool even with a topcoat as shown in my photos.

I'd love to get my hands on more nail foil colors & some of the nail foil glue so I can try all sorts of fun techniques I've seen around the web. The always amazing blog, Lucy's Stash, has tons of amazing looks using nail foils.

I used American Apparel Manhattan Beach for the base color. I'm still completely in love with their sheer collection. Every color is drop dead gorgeous & Manhattan Beach is a perfect match for this outfit!

Thanks for reading!

  1. I always love your nails w/outfit photos. They are uniquely you and make me smile! Also that orange is fab. The foil - not my cup of tea but I'm also pretty terrible with nail art in general.
